Camp Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City- A simple Flag Raising Ceremony turned out to be a special one when three extraordinary women joined the said activity as Police Regional Office MIMAROPA headed by PCSUPT MELITO M MABILIN, Regional Director celebrated the International Women’s Month on March 25, 2013 with this year’s theme: “Kababaihan: Gabay sa Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan” held at Regional Headquarters, Camp Efigenio C Navarro, Calapan City. The three extraordinary women who graced the said occasion were Director Margarita R Montemayor, Regional Director, National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the Distinguished Visitors Program, Mrs. Filipina Mabilin, Adviser, PRO MIMAROPA Officers’ Ladies Club (OLC) and the better half of PCSUPT MELITO M MABILIN, Regional Director and Mrs. Rochelle Layon, President PRO MIMAROPA OLC and the better half of PCSUPT EDGAR L LAYON, Deputy Regional Director for Administration. Women exercised full authority on that special day wherein all policewomen were in charged of the foyer honors, parading elements, emcee and flag hoister. To make the event more special, eleven (11) female students from Jose J. Leido Memorial National High School and Divine Word College of Calapan were invited to assume the duties and responsibilities as the Regional Director down to the line for three (3) hours. This activity was conceptualized by PCSUPT MABILIN to allow the students to observe and experience the actual performance of the high ranking officers in the region. Further, an awarding of medals were awarded to the deserving female police commissioned officers of the Regional Health Service (RHS) headed by PSUPT MARISSA S BILLOTE, Chief, RHS for their exemplary performance during the medical and dental mission at Sitio Tubig, Barangay Baras, Baco, Oriental Mindoro. Additionally, the women’s month celebration was filled up by the exciting activities like the parade, volleyball game, parlor games and women’s night. The said activity aims to underscore women’s leadership role and participation in governance to enhance gender perspective in upholding good authority. It highlights the importance of strengthening the mechanisms and institutions that support women and to widen the arena for their participation. |
